| 1. | promote and defend the professions interests; | |
| 2. | act as a bridge to facilitate the communication and understanding between Hong Kongs legal profession and the Central Government; | |
| 3. | act as a watchdog to ensure greater transparency and accountability of the self-regulating bodies of the profession, i.e. the Bar Association and the Law Society, towards their members. | |
| 4. | promote the communitys respect and recognition of the professions unique contribution to the rule of law, justice and Hong Kong as a world-class city; | |
| 5. | monitor the governance of the HKSAR government to ensure that it is in line with the principles of rule of law, and is in the best public interests. | |
